2016 Angela Vineyards Pinot Noir
2016 was a unique vintage for several reasons. The first being that it was the earliest year for bud break, bloom, veraison and harvest on record. Despite racing to ripeness, the wines are fresh and balanced. The second was the winemaking transition from Ken Wright to Alban Debeaulieu. Ken picked, fermented and barreled down the wines. Alban arrived in time to watch them mature in barrel for 11 months and blend the final wines. When blending Alban tasted for freshness both in fruit definition and mouthfeel and left out anything that showed rusticity or heaviness. The result is a beautiful Pinot Noir rich with fruit and texture.
